St Joseph's Wins Most Enterprising Trading Company

Miss Byers coordinates the Company Programme in Year 13.  This programme, run by Young Enterprise is designed to give students an insight into running their own business.  Students work as a team and devise their own company name.  This name usually represents a little bit about them and their background.  This year the company’s name was ‘REEBOW’ which highlighted the fact that they were trendy young adults who would incorporate ‘youthful’ ideas into their products.

Young Enterprise organises an annual trade fair for all schools to showcase and sell their products.  This year, the trade fair was held in Connswater on Saturday 4th February.  The entire team, 22 pupils had to work together to prepare for this event.  Stock was purchased and packages were designed.  The Managing Director, Miss Cliodhna Kelly made sure that everyone knew their roles and ‘rose to the occasion’ at this trade fair.  As the photographs show, REEMBOW were hugely successful, winning most enterprising trading company.  A great achievement, especially as there were approximately 13 other schools from across Belfast competing.

In May, Young Enterprise held their annual prize giving celebration in recognition of the achievement of all pupils who successfully took part in the company programme.  The photograph also shows that JED JIM, from last year’s apprentice also made a guest appearance to congratulate the pupils on their achievement.
